Zamek Krzyżacki w Toruniu powstał jako pierwszy na Ziemi Chełmińskiej.  W ciągu XIII i XIV wieku powstała zabudowa zamku komturskiego, wybudowano skrzydło południowe z kaplicą, refektarzem, dormitorium oraz kuchnią. Później powstały: kapitularz, potężna ośmioboczna wieża, studnia, wieża sanitarna i pozostałe budynki gospodarcze. Po bitwie grunwaldzkiej zaczęto wzmacniać mury obwodowe i dostosowano zamek do większej liczby załogi. Z czasem zamek w Toruniu stanowił osobne miasto z własnymi młynami, piekarniami i stawami rybnymi. W 1454 roku Torunianie rozpoczęli oblężenie zamku, który zdobyli po 4 dniach. Do dnia dzisiejszego zachowały się jedynie części fosy zamkowej, dolne partie zamku głównego. Obecnie teren zamku w Toruniu to miejsce rekreacji i wypoczynku dla mieszkańców miasta, a także dla zwiedzających. Często odbywają się tutaj imprezy plenerowe, gdyż malownicze położenie nad Wisłą przyciąga turystów.

The Teutonic Knights in Toruń in Toruń established as a first on the Chełmińska Land.  In the course of the 13th and 14th centuries the buildings of the commandery castle were developed, was built the southern wing with a chapel, refectory, dormitory and a kitchen. Later were constructed a chapterhouse, a massive octagonal tower, a well, a sanitary tower and other outbuildings. After the Battle of Grunwald, the perimeter walls began to be strengthened and the castle was adapted to accommodate a larger number of personnel. Over time the castle in Torun became a separate town with own mills, bakeries and fish ponds. In 1454 Toruns began a siege of the castle, which they captured after 4 days.  Until this day have preserved only parts of the castle moat and the lower parts of the main castle. At present the area of the castle in Toruń is a place of recreation and rest for the city's inhabitants, and also for visitors. Outdoor events are often take place here, because of the picturesque location on the Vistula River attracts tourists.
