Zamek Cesarski w Poznaniu
Zamek Wilhelma stanowił główny obiekt tzw. dzielnicy. Gmach powstał niedawno, wyglądem przypomina zamki średniowieczne, potężne i warowne.
The
Imperial Castle in Poznań
The Imperial Castle in Poznan is a monumental building, stunning in its enormity. It was built in the early 20th century, in 1905-10, designed by Franz Schwechten as a residence for emperor Wilhelm II.
The Imperial Castle was built on the plan of an irregular polygon in the neo-Romanesque style. The main building consisted of two wings - the western one, where there were living quarters, and the eastern one, containing representative rooms with the most beautiful Throne Room. Wilhelm's Castle was the main object of the so-called district. The building was built recently and resembles powerful and fortified medieval castles. Nearby is Adam Mickiewicz Square and the University of Poznań. At present there is here the Castle Culture Centre. There is a cinema in the throne room, some apartments have art galleries, the Animation Theater, and in the basement there are music clubs and restaurants. There is a square in the inner courtyard, where concerts and film screenings are often take place in the summer season.
