Przy południowej pierzei Rynku stoi Gmach Miejskiej Biblioteki, zbudowany w latach 1774 - 78 w stylu klasycystycznym i barokowym. W zbiorach biblioteki znajduje się 8 tysięcy starodruków np. Kazania Jana Chryzostoma z 1466 roku, a także rękopis „Roty” Marii Konopnickiej. Przy Rynku stoi bydgoski Ratusz oraz stara Fara.

Wokół Rynku biegną zaciszne uliczki z ciekawą zabudową łączącą różne elementy. Ulica Długa jest urokliwym deptakiem, warto przejść się również ulicami: Pod Blankami, Zaułek i Gdańską, a także położonym dalej Hotelem pod Orłem. Koniecznie trzeba wybrać się też na Bulwary nad Brdą, gdzie czeka Wenecja Bydgoska i na Wyspę Młyńską przy ul. Mennica.
