Historia Muzeum Browaru Żywiec
W połowie XIX wieku większość Żywiecczyzny znalazła się w rękach przedstawicieli austriackiego, cesarskiego rodu Habsburgów.
Przez 93 lata browar był własnością Habsburgów żywieckich.
Jego założycielem i pierwszym właścicielem był arcyksiążę Albrecht Fryderyk Habsburg, wnuk cesarza Leopolda II.
Po śmierci Albrechta majątek wraz z browarem przeszedł w ręce arcyksięcia Karola Stefana.
Prowadził on browar 38 lat.
W roku 1933 największą część dóbr żywieckich wraz z browarem i zamkiem odziedziczył arcyksiążę Karol Olbracht.
W Żywcu do dziś stoi wiele budynków z oryginalnej, XIX-wiecznej zabudowy browaru.

History
of Żywiec Brewery Museum
In
the middle of the 19th century, most of the Żywiec region fell into
the hands of the representatives of the Austrian imperial Habsburg
family.
The brewery was owned by the Habsburgs of Żywiec for
93 years.
Its founder and first owner was Archduke Albrecht
Friedrich Habsburg, grandson of Emperor Leopold II.
After
Albrecht's death the estate together with the brewery passed into the
hands of Archduke Charles Stephen.
He ran the brewery for 38
years.
In 1933 the largest part of the Żywiec property with
the brewery and the castle was inherited by Archduke Charles
Olbracht.
The construction of the brewery in Żywiec began
in 1852, the official opening took place in 1856 and this date can be
found on the Żywiec beer labels.
The first barrels of beer
left the brewery a year later.
After several years, the brewery
gained a dominant position on the Galician market. Currently, the
plant is owned by the Dutch Heineken Grupa Żywiec.
Many
buildings from the original 19th century brewery buildings still
stand in Żywiec.
